Hi..................

Sat Sep 19, 2009, 12:19 PM
Internet's back (In some capacity), therefore I am here. (To those of you who know me on steam, it will be a bit longer before I rejoin.)

Have been on a semi artist's block of sorts lately, yet I have been doing some lunchtime projects whilst at work. As soon as it's in a capacity where it is actually renderable to my standards, I may be inclined to post...and yes, they are in 3D. I have Maya there. When will my semi-block be lifted, you ask? Iunno...perhaps when I get a bit less stressed.

As for how I've been doing...Ok, I suppose, all things considered. Being that I am now 30, I went through the obligatory "life evaluation phase" that I go through every 5 or so years. I wont go into it in detail here...I'll just use my blog for that. Long story short, I am both pleased and not at the same time with how things are going in our [mine and :iconhypadawg:'s] world.

Anywho, I've noticed that I have had 1,xxx deviations and 5xx during my absence and I have blindly deleted all of them. I do not mean to offend, but going through that is to daunting of a task. I'll just go through your journals and galleries at my leisure. As for messages, that count was pretty low, so I have caught up on that. (The joy of unpopularity :XD: )

Aaanyway, I've done enough typing for the time being. How are all of you?

been a long time...

for the past several months, I was internet deprived. (and still am, actually.) So if you haven't heard from either me or :iconhypadawg:, that would be why...

Lots of things have been going on, but at the same time, not really, if that makes sense. One of the most noticeable things is my website. It is no longer [link] (There is a moderate sized story behind it) It is now burleytoons.com...works out better because now I can host both my site as well as A.G.'s :boogie:

Anyway, if you want to catch up, just email me at jason@burleytoons.com. I promise to get back to you ASAP, if not sooner.

Till next time.

Looks like my hand is forced yet again...

...at this rate my fuse will be so short on certain things, it will be practically nonexistent. Let's begin.

:iconhypadawg: and I have signed on to a few creative staffing firms hoping that we can supplement our rather shitty income. (I will not name names, mind you, so don't bother asking.) One of them actually interviewed me. My wife was interviewed and signed on to two...though we've applied to a lot more than that.

One of them (The one that signed both of us on) would send us jobs that would either be automatically filled upon sending or we would get absolutely no response whatsoever, regardless on how aggressive we are about it. There was a job in which I, being that I was in the area anyway, went over to their office to discuss it, was turned away at the front desk as if they were Fort Knox and I was about to rob them of everything they had.

The other one interviewed and signed her on while not even bothering with me. They've sent her a job, to which she has accepted to virtually babysit some corporate halfwits while they cannot make up their mind as to what they wanted. They even provided crayolas. This was an early morning job which required us to wake up around 3 am (I went with her because I was not going to let my wife go out in the middle of the 'hood at 4 am...that's how I am.) to take a series of buses and trains so that she can make it over there around 7 am. In the end, they've cut her because basically, she wouldn't bullshit and focused her time and energy into getting the job done. That seemed to be a problem to them.

After hearing of this earlier today, we figured that these staffing firms are a joke. They're run by complete imbeciles and ditzes who don't know the difference between a line and a circle, yet they feel that they know all there is to know about who is a "good fit" for a job.

I'm in pseudo-management (another rant for another day) where I need to make these calls and yeah, I admit it's not easy, but at the same time, I give people a chance. So far, it has worked. (Read: I have not ran someone into a brick wall yet.) So I'm really having trouble with the thought process of these agencies who pull artists who need money, give them these false hopes of a better chance in getting some work for the sole purpose of lining their own wallets by taking cuts of up to 50% for the hard work that the artist has to endure.

The bottom line is this: We're artists. At the end of the day, we have to sell ourselves one way or another. There is no quick fix in doing so, therefore we have to do it ourselves and do it in a way that works for us.

If you have an idea that contradicts mine, I'll be glad to hear it as long as there is some coherent thought to it. Otherwise they will be marked as spam on sight.

Till next time, kids.

Update of sorts...

Sun Nov 2, 2008, 7:45 PM
I was gonna post this earlier...but yeah... :\

Anyway before I continue, the project I brought up last time still stands...takes only a few minutes to do and doesn't cost a cent. Here are the details.
[link]

Many thanks to :iconf3ng: for his contribution. Even though I've never met the guy and he has never met Patrick, he has given the gift of art just because, and I quote,
"He sounded like the way all people should be, kind and suportive no matter what."

Thanks again, f3ng. It means a lot :)

And now, on to the update:

As some of you already know by now, :iconhypadawg: and I are married. Being that I won't repeat my own entries, as long winded as it may be, I'll direct you here...

[link]

And to those of you who wish to read my ramblings regularly, I tend to post there more frequently than anywhere...don't ask me why, I just do. So you may want to bookmark the feed. Also, just in case you're wondering about us procreatin', the following should clear it all up.

[link]

Anyway, married life has treated me pretty well. As a matter of fact, it's like the happy oasis in the middle of all types of stress I've been going through as of late. Right now, we're just trying to get back on our feet financially and career-wise. I won't go into details.

With that being said, both of us are offering commissions. See [link] for the pricing structure. ALL commissions will be signed by the artist(s) of your choosing and you'll get not only the print, but a high resolution digital file to go with it. You'll get some good artwork and help us out when we need it. Highly appreciated and highly win-win. :D

Guess that's all...and quite a few links scattered about, but it's all necessary.

Till next time, kiddies.
